The Family of Ernst Otto Jubelt and Anna (Viehweg) Jubelt - January 1930 The JubeltsDid you know that JUBELT means "Rejoice" in German? There appear to be several different family branches living in the continental United States. Paul Jubelt wrote in his newsletter dated June 1 1995 about 4 branches that he discovered. Paul has since passed away but he is the one that I credit with giving me the incentive to begin this journey. Like Paul, I'd like to meet or talk to all of you. Is your curiosity aroused? Mine is. The last known "Jubelt" reunion was July 16, 1995 at the home of Fred and Phylis Jubelt for the decendants of Ernst-Otto and Emil-Ernst Jubelt. We are looking for the decendants of Albin Jubelt (the third brother). Take the case of Hubert Paul Jubelt, grandson of Emil Ernst Jubelt. Hilbert always wondered as to where his parents came up with his first name. Research uncovered Christian Gottheied and wife Johanna HILBERT; married in 1851 in Steinpleis! Were these possibly the great-grandparents of Hubert? Who knows? And what about the father of Adolph & Rudolph Jubelt from Calilbrnia? Is he also the father of Paul Richard, Kurt, Henry and Emma Jubelt? It seems that this Jubelt sent his 4 children (by a his first wife) to America following the death of their mother. These youngsters lived in an orphanage in New York for a while and were shipped west on one of the "ORPHAN TRAINS" to Concordia Kansas. After several years separation, the boys met and later moved to Redondo Beach, California. The oldest living descendant of Rudolph (Leo) tells of a trip to the Detroit area with his father on the occasion of his grandfather's 25th wedding anniversary to his second wife. Leo was about 12 years old at the time. A photo depicts the event with many family members unidentified. Another member of this branch tells a story of meeting a very old and "SCARY MAN" that couldn't speak English. Could it be that the father of Rudolph (possibly named August) was a brother, cousin or Uncle of the father of Albin and Ernst ? This is another un-answered question.
